Thanksgiving Weekend…

Finally blogging again! We’ve been up to a lot since I last updated but honestly this blogging stuff feels like such a chore sometimes.  So I always end up putting it off until months go by.  I’ll do my best to update more frequently so it won’t feel like such a chore.

Thanksgiving Weekend 2009 002

For Thanksgiving, Shaun and I went up to Show Low and enjoyed visiting with family and stuffing our faces with delicious food.  Thanksgiving Weekend 2009 004Unfortunately, we had to leave much too soon and return the Friday after back down to the valley and spent the rest of the weekend with Ash and Mase.  We were able to find fun activities to do that weekend and decided to go to the car show in downtown Phoenix.  We rode the light rail on the way there and it was Ash and Mase’s first time riding it!

Ashlee looks so thrilled!  The light rail sure does beat paying 12 bucks for parking in downtown Phoenix!

The car show was pretty cool, they had an interactive exhibit with the Jeeps there where people were able to ride in them on an obstacle course that took you almost straight uphill and on some very bumpy terrains!  Shaun, Ash, and Mase did this and I tried my best to get a good picture of them.

Here are a few of the luxury cars, Shaun liked the black one and the baby blue one is mine! Maybe someday when we can afford such frivolous items such as Bentleys and Jaguars!Thanksgiving Weekend 2009 012  Thanksgiving Weekend 2009 007

Probably the highlight of the car show was getting a picture taken with Bumblebee from Transformers!

Afterward, we ate lunch at the TGI Fridays located inside Chase Ballpark and had fun looking around…

All in all, it was a pretty fun day to go down in blogging history!

In other exciting news…

We have a baby boy comin’ to town April 25th! We feel extremely blessed to be expecting so soon after a devastating loss last June. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers sent our way!

Thanksgiving Weekend 2009 001Here’s what I looked liked on Thanksgiving Day at 18 weeks and 4 days.  To me I think I’m still in the stage where people are wondering “is she pregnant or is she just fat?” But Shaun assures me that I look obviously pregnant by now. I don’t know…Here’s me at 5 weeks for comparison. Excuse the mess in the background, we were getting ready to move out of our apartment.

Wish I could sew *sigh*

Hey everyone! I'm still alive! I came across these two websites that I thought I would share for all you gals that sew. They're patterns for girl dresses made out of a men's dress shirt, and they're adorable!

Shaun has a few dress shirts that are never worn and when I get my hands on a sewing machine I would love to try this out! Enjoy :)

What we've been up to this summer...

Memorial Day: Diamondbacks game

The cat who loves to lounge in sinks and laundry baskets.

Fourth of July in Show Low.

I had the honor of being the maid of honor at my friend's wedding.

Shaun and I also enjoyed our 2nd wedding anniversary (and my birthday) at the new waterpark in north Phoenix, Wet 'N Wild. We probably should have waited when the novelty of it wore off because the lines were ridiculous. So we didn't get to go on all of the rides. We were also the smart thinkers who didn't wear any shoes and Shaun ended up with blisters on the bottom of his feet the first 5 minutes we were there. We ended up having to buy flip flops and hobbling around the rest of the day. For the most part though, it was fun! Afterward, we went to Cheesecake Factory and I ate whatever I wanted and it felt great! I also gained 2 pounds to show for it!

A new beginning...

This past week has been a very trying time for Shaun and I. It all started when I began spotting Saturday night That led to being carted between nurses and doctors all week including an agonizing visit to the ER, being told not to worry because everything looks great, seeing our little baby on the ultrasound screen and seeing its little heart beating strong. The spotting turned to bleeding at this point but no one could give me answers as to why because everything on the charts looked good.

Finally, we got our answer from the doctor yesterday morning. We went to the doctor's as a follow up visit from the ER, and we were very optimistic and not expecting the worse really. But the doctor had informed us that my HCG levels were lowering and it was unlikely that this pregnancy would stick. From that point on I knew it was true.

The chain of events after hearing that news was very odd to me because it was like my Heavenly Father had warned us and prepared us of what was about to come. We had a couple of hours to cry it out and say goodbye to our little baby, and then the pain came.

Even though it was so agonizing and painful, I could feel the presence of my Heavenly Father there and I knew we were being watched over, and I felt a peace that I can't even describe. I'm thankful that we had that small window of time to say goodbye, I'm thankful for the love and support I have felt from family and friends, and I'm thankful to feel the love and support from up above.

Shaun and I have learned our lesson for next time. We're going to keep our mouths shut until after the first trimester :)

Progress picture time!

I'm 17 pounds away from goal but I think that will be put on hold for a while :)
