No work, all play!

We had a pumpkin carving contest at work! I apologize for the picture quality, I only had my camera phone on hand.

I think that's a pirhana eating the poor pumpkin's head.

Still alive and kickin'

My camera has been on the fritz and has been looking pretty sad. As you can see, it's held together by a hair tie. It still works but it's a major pain in the you know what. So I don't have many pictures to accompany my post as I would like to.

What have we been up to? Fall is in the air and we're getting ready for halloween. We took the children to a trunk-or-treat that Ashlee's school put on and they had a lot of fun trying to out-do each other with how much candy they got. Does anyone know how to effectively break this habit with siblings? They are always trying to one-up the other or brag about something. It's not friendly competition and I don't like it! I've been trying to get them to cut it out but I think it's just a brother-sister thing. If I remember correctly, Mike and I got into it a lot. Probably at the expense of Mom's nerves too.

This year Mason chose to be Darth Vader, and he looks so cute too! If my camera wasn't such a pain I would have taken pictures. He even has a mask with a voice changer to make him sound like Darth Vader. It's pretty sweet. Ashlee has chosen to be a ninja! Better than the usual princess/fairy/girly get-up right? So we have a couple of kick-butt kidos on our hands this year.

Next week, they get another truck-or-treat at the church, so they'll be candied out for a while. We might have to hide the candy stash from them. Last year, a little boy got his hands into a candy stash and what was discovered later? Empty candy wrappers underneath this little boy's pillow.

Yesterday, this same little boy had created two imaginary friends - I hope this isn't a result from too much boredom. We got a kick out of what he named his two new friends though: Daniel and Erin. So Clarissa, I think the kids might be having some cousin withdrawls. We'll need to get together soon!

"If wise men do not elect wise men to lead us, then fools will elect fools to lead us."

Hey everyone. This is my first time posting on this thing so bear with me. As I was browsing the Meridian Magazine website I came across an artical about an Interreligious dialouge program in Ghana. As I was reading there was a section where various members who attended the program were asked what they took out of it. The quote that I have entitled this blog entry with was one of their replies. Emmanuel Amissah Forson who has been a member of the church for 11 years said; “I liked the message that if wise men do not elect wise men to lead us, then fools will elect fools to lead us.” As I read these words something pricked at my heart and I just had to come on here and share it all with you. How true these words are! As this election has grown closer I have found myself coming to a firm belief that this election will be one that will fundamentally change this country if we choose foolishly. With our government stepping in and taking control of companies giving billions of dollars in bailout taking over control of huge corporate entities I am afraid that this once free and great nation has started down the course to the loss of many more of our freedoms we hold dear. This is the most benevolent country in the history of the world. Yet we are told by some that we are evil and we do not give enough. Friends and Family I pray that all of us seek guidance during this time that we may choose wise men and women to lead us, that we may not be counted as the fools who choose unwisely and lead us to loose even more of the things that we hold dear. Please go and vote for together we can make a difference and make our voices heard. If you have stuck around this long thanks for reading my little spill here and know that I love each and every one of you!

A nonsense post

It's Monday Night Football so here I sit with nothing of real importance to blog about. I'm just so glad summer is finally past us! Hurray for getting into your car and not seeing three digit numbers on the thermometer, when in actuality it's probably 50 degrees hotter inside your car than it is outside, which is extra fun when trying to cool down the car means having to endure the hot air blowing out of your AC for another 5 minutes while it tries to cool.
Yay for the holiday season coming upon us, and for all the decorations that correspond with it! Yay for turning up the AC because it's too chilly and for having to snuggle up under the covers as opposed to laying on top of the covers, this means cheaper SRP bills are soon to come!!
Hurray for pretty sunsets hidden behind dark clouds. I don't know if this has anything to do with the season changing but I like the picture, despite the layer of dirty windshield in front of it. And hurray for end of summer deals on clothes that I can still wear well into the fall season! Only 7 bucks! Oh, and yay for strategically posed pictures that make me appear much thinner than I actually am!

On the road to socialism...

Congratulations America! We're the proud new owners of a $700 billion bail-out plan! A plan that was originally 3 pages, but now 500 pages because of the nut-jobs in Washington adding their personal touches to it so they can make their constituents happy, and when they're happy the nut-jobs get to keep their job. So no, this won't be costing us $700 billion, this will cost us well over a trillion! But of course they won't let you know that little detail. I'll take an inexperienced Sarah Palin anyday over any one of these corrupt individuals in Washington, sealing this nation's demise one bill at a time!

Sorry, had to rant a little.
